Pathway overview
The permanent Partner visa for holders of the temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) or Dependent Child visa (subclass 445) who remain in a genuine relationship with their sponsor.
Verified directly from Home Affairs' own eligibility checklist. You must hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) or Dependent Child visa (subclass 445), and in most cases continue to be in a genuine and ongoing relationship with your sponsor — whether the relationship still meets that evidentiary bar is a discretionary assessment this tool doesn't check. Processing eligibility starts 2 years after you first applied for the temporary and permanent Partner visas together. This is a separate program from the temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) it follows.
