Pathway overview
For spouses, civil partners, and unmarried partners of British/Irish citizens or settled persons in the UK.
Verified directly from GOV.UK: you and your partner must both be 18 or over. You must prove a qualifying relationship — a marriage or civil partnership recognised in the UK, OR at least 2 years living together, OR being a fiancé(e)/proposed civil partner who will marry within 6 months of arriving, OR at least 2 years together but unable to live together (this tool checks a single self-declared yes/no, not each specific evidentiary path). Your partner must hold a qualifying UK immigration status (British or Irish citizen, settled in the UK, etc.). You and your partner must usually have a combined income of at least £29,000 a year (the current general minimum income requirement — different figures apply if your partner receives certain disability/carer's benefits, or if you're extending a visa first granted before 11 April 2024; not modeled here). You must also speak, read, write and understand English to at least CEFR level A1.
